Karmiel-Misgav Women's Forum
WHO ARE WE?
The Karmiel-Misgav Women's Forum is a joint project of the Karmiel, Misgav, and Pittsburgh communities. The forum works for women and for the wider community, while providing the opportunity to initiate and develop unique women's projects.
The forum was established in 1997 by "Partnership 2000"; a project of the Jewish Agency for Israel, connecting communities in Israel and abroad. In 2002, the forum became a non-profit organization. More than one hundred women are active volunteers.
The forum’s vision focuses on three areas: women's health, contribution to the community, and empowerment of women.
HILA MARCH IN THE GALILEE
Marching together for women's health
The march takes place once a year, in parallel with the Misgav race at Manof. The purpose of the march is to increase awareness of women's health in general and the importance of early detection of breast cancer in particular.
FREEDOM TO CHOOSE
Self-defense, empowering women
Self-defense courses for women in a positive, supportive and empowering environment are taught by an authorized instructor of "El Halev", tailored to the needs of the participants.
HILA CENTER
Assisting women coping with cancer
The center helps women during their treatment and recovery, providing peripheral aid such as hairstyles, wigs, and cosmetic treatments. The service is personal, discreet, and free of charge, in Karmiel.
TEAM NASHIM
Dragon boat rowing group
The rowing team conducts regular training on Lake Kinneret and participates in the annual festival competitions of dragon boats, held in Tel Aviv.
MESHUMASHEHU
Second-hand store in Misgav
This flagship project is the main source of income of the forum. The store was founded in 2002 and offers clothes, toys, toys, books, household items, antiques, and more at nominal prices.
MOVIE FESTIVAL FOR WOMEN
Celebration of women's films
During the festival, indy and mainstream films created by women or centered on women are shown. Discussions with the filmmakers and meetings of women from all over the region are encouraged. The festival takes place once a year in Misgav or Karmiel.
REQUEST FOR SUPPORT
Every year, we publish a "Call for Proposals" that enables people in the community to request funding for projects, according to the criteria and goals of the organization. Every year the association supports a variety of projects in the Karmiel and Misgav communities, for all sectors and ages, and especially for projects for women and girls.
Examples of supported activities:
Women's catchball teams, women's and girls' softball groups (at the Misgav Community Center), encouraging technological education among junior high school students in Karmiel and Misgav (Moona Chalal for Change), empowerment program for girls in Eshbal junior high school, activities for female pensioners (Merchavim), Pieces for Peace (Women Making Peace), a workshop for girls doing national service in the Bedouin sector in Misgav (Education and Society), and more.
